Living Sky Astrology Retreat

featuring Kaypacha and Adam Gainsburg

Kundalini Yoga • Sky Gazing • Converging in the Land of Happiness
September 25 – October 7th 2O19

Welcome Letter from Adam and Kaypacha

For truth seekers whose primary desire is to open their hearts and minds to their true Purpose, these are powerful times! With this intention, Adam and Kaypacha are excited to invite you to Bhutan, the “Land of Happiness,” for a sacred adventure into the workings of Spirit through astrology, both east and west. We’ll be visiting the majestic and sacred sites of Bhutan, learning Buddhist Vedic astrology, Kaypacha’s Evolutionary astrology, Adam’s Soulsign astrology, Kundalini yoga, somatic meditations, alchemical star gazing, and quite a bit more!

Adam and Kaypacha have chosen a time when we as individuals and the collective unconscious are brimming with new wisdom teachings and cross-cultural collaborations opening the door to a more heart-filled experience of ourselves and each other.

The astrological dynamics during our journey point to it as a time of deep soul searching, healing, and rebirth. Jupiter in his home sign of Sagittarius, Pluto conferring with the south node of the Moon and Saturn, Lilith conferring with Neptune, and the Sun in opposition to Chiron, all point to deepening into our Being through integrating new, foreign, unconscious and powerful awarenesses that can change both our identity and our future!

In addition to our breathtaking journeys through the beautiful country of Bhutan and learning Bhutanese astrology from master astrologers, we’ll immerse ourselves in some of the most powerful western astrology alive today! Adam and Kaypacha will join forces for six days to deeply explore the key evolutionary factors of your chart. They’ll empower your understanding of your unique Soul’s unfolding for this lifetime and explain just how the Soul and the incarnational Identity co-create our evolution. The power of the material they’ll share will ground you in your actual cellular instructions for this lifetime! This is an experience you will not want to miss and we sincerely hope you can join us!

Your Astrological Birthchart as a Blueprint of your Soul
A 6-day astrology retreat with Kaypacha and Adam Gainsburg

The foundation of both eastern and western astrology is that the Soul evolves through many, many lifetimes and that the time, date, place, our parents, language, beliefs, gender etc. all lay the groundwork for this incarnation. With Pluto conjunct Saturn and the south node of the Moon, while the Sun opposes Chiron at the time of our retreat, there is no better time to investigate the summary of our past life decisions, challenges, and rewards that form the root of this life’s Soul intentions.

Adam and Kaypacha have developed their unique approaches to astrology over many years. In our retreat, Kaypacha will be focusing on Pluto (the Soul in Evolutionary Astrology), the Moon’s nodes (paths of evolution from past to future), and the Moon and Ascendant (aspects of our past and future respectively). Adam’s teaching will center on the entire spectrum of Chiron (Broken Open Heart, Sacred Medicine, and Medicine Walk in Soulsign Astrology) and the critical Chiron-Moon relationship. Our six days of astrology together will be spent exploring how Pluto, the Moon’s nodes, and Chiron express through each of the six astrological polarities (Aries/Libra, Taurus/Scorpio, Gemini/Sagittarius, Cancer/Capricorn, Leo/Aquarius, and Virgo/Pisces), one each day.

You will be provided with a handout to fill in at the retreat, “Discovering My Soul’s Purpose,” which will become a lifetime reminder of why you are here! Time will be provided for you to meditate upon the material presented and we will solicit examples and questions from you, the participants. A basic knowledge of astrology will support you in getting the most out of this retreat. Therefore, each registrant will be emailed a complimentary copy of Kaypacha’s “Astrology 101” webinar series (valued at $150) as well as select chapters from Adam’s book, Chiron: The Wisdom of a Deeply Open Heart. Adam will also be recording a video specifically for retreat attendees describing the sympathetic resonance between the Western cultural mythos of Chiron and Tibetan Buddhism. These, together with your calculated chart and Horoscope Interpretation Guide — also included — will help prepare you for this extraordinary Soul Journey!

Adam and Kaypacha first met over 15 years ago and instantly formed a deep bond of friendship and commitment to serving the evolution of human consciousness. In combining their proven methods of chart delineation and years of counseling many thousands of people, they will be delivering an incredible transmission of both the evolutionary trajectory and deepest heart wisdom within each of us. This alchemy supports a clear path out of separation and into a deeply intimate, sacred life. Having been friends through all these years, they are super excited to combine their unique perspectives to offer you a most amazing retreat.  We hope you can join us!

Detailed Itinerary

Days 1-2 in Thimphu

drukair-bhutanOn the first or second day after our arrival in Thimpu, Kaypacha and Adam will welcome us with a ceremony to create a sacred container for our precious retreat together. We’ll also be visiting:

  • the world’s second largest seated Buddha statue (locals refer to it as “Buddha Point”)
  • Motithang Takin Preserve which is home to the Takin, the national animal of Bhutan
  • The Institute for Zorig Chusum, the traditional art school of Bhutan, where students study the 13 traditional arts & crafts of Bhutan
  • The Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in 1974 dedicated to the third King of Bhutan

There will also be plenty of time to stroll and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of the historic city of Thimphu!

Day 3 in Thimphu

We will spend the day learning Vedic Buddhist astrology at the Monastic Astrology College of Pangri Zampa, founded in the early 16th century. The morning’s activities will include:

  • touring the temple at the college
  • Yoga of the Zodiac — a movement and musical circle — on the temple grounds, led by Kaypacha

In the afternoon, we’ll meet with the Vice Principal of the astrology college, Lama Sonam Rinchen, who has been teaching at the college for 10 years. He will instruct our group in English on the history and fundamentals of Vedic Buddhist astrology.

Day 4 in Thimphu and Punakha

dochula pass- bhutanAfter breakfast, we’ll have two options:

  • we’ll return to the astrology college with anyone wanting to have an astrology reading with the lamas at the college, or
  • spend free time strolling around or shopping in Thimphu

In the afternoon on our way to Punakha, we’ll stop for lunch at Dochu la pass — a place of breathtaking views of the Himalayas, weather-permitting. This locale is also home to the Druk Wangyel Chorten, a site of 108 stupas commissioned by the queen mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck for the well-being of all sentient beings.

Day 5 in Punakha

After breakfast we will visit:

  • Chimmi Lhakhang, most popularly known as the temple of fertility, built in the 15th century as a dedication to the divine madman, Lama Drukpa Kuenley.
  • Punakha Dzong (or fortress) built in 1637 by the unifier of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel. The dzong stands majestically at the junction of two rivers, one male (Phochu) and one female (Mochu).

In the evening before dinner, we will explore the town of Punakha.

Days 6 – 8 and 10 – 12 are the astrological heart of our journey. This is our retreat within the retreat, where we will immerse ourselves in the combined wisdom and teachings of Adam Gainsburg and Kaypacha.

We present a more structured schedule for these days to provide a sample of the daily flow and balance between astrology instruction and leisure/rest times. Most nights we will also gather after dinner for sky watching and/or to debrief and ask questions on the teachings from that day.

Tigers-NestDay 9 Tiger’s Nest Monastery Trek

At the innermost heart of our journey, we will visit one of the most sacred sites in the Buddhist world: Taktshang Goemba  — a must visit for Bhutanese at least once in a lifetime! This is an uphill trek of about 3 hours. The first hour and a half gets you to the cafe where there is a clear and stunning view of the monastery. (There is an option to ride a pony up this far.) The legend of Taktshang (Tiger’s Nest/Lair) is from tantric mythology when, in 747 AD, Guru Rinpoche (Padma Sambhava) flew on the back of a pregnant tigress to a cave on this sheer rock face to meditate and, assuming his wrathful form, Guru Dorji Droloe, he subdued the local deity, converting it into the spiritual protector of Taktshang. Some people living in the valley saw a tigress lying by the cave and thought it to be a tiger’s lair.

For those staying on the extra days, we will depart for Thimphu after breakfast for the first of the two festival (tshechu) days. The Thimphu Tshechu and Paro Tshechu are among the biggest tshechus in terms of participation and audience size. Thimphu Tshechu is one of the most beautiful and colorful festivals in western Bhutan and is celebrated for three days to commemorate the great deeds of Guru Rinpoche, the founding saint of Buddhism in Bhutan.

The tshechu features dances performed by trained monks and laymen in amazing masks and costumes. The festival is a wonderful opportunity to gather with locals and experience the ancient and fully alive culture of Bhutan.

For the festival, retreatants will be outfitted in the traditional Bhutanese garments: the gho or kira, which are one of the most distinctive features of Bhutanese culture.

Teacher Bios

Kaypacha has more than 40+ years of experience as an astrologer and spiritual practitioner. His approach to healing spirit, mind, and body through emotional release and Kundalini yoga utilizes astrology as a healing art. In addition to personal readings, he brings astrology to everyone through international lectures, experiential workshops, writing and teaching. He is the author of “The Pele Report”, a weekly astrological YouTube forecast and numerous magazine and online articles. Using yoga, meditation and nature for self-renewal, his work brings balance, love, and joy to others and the planet.

During our retreat, Kaypacha will lead us in Kundalini yoga and breath work techniques designed to open our consciousness, heart, and soul. Kundalini yoga uses a combination of breath, sound, and movement to awaken the life force energy stored at the base of the spine and raise it through the chakras to stimulate the pineal gland/third eye. This creates an inner experience of oneness, peace, and unity with all that is. Kaypacha brings this yoga to both balance and fulfill the abstract astrological concepts with an actual, living experience of “As Above, So Below, As Without, So Within.”  No experience is necessary.

Like many of us, Adam’s first hint of something beyond himself developed through his childhood connection to the glittering canopy of the Living Sky. Over the years, with dedication and many hours clocked in observation, he has cultivated a true relationship with the stars, planets, and complex movements of our skies. His knowing that paying attention to what is observable to us acts as catalyst to what is latent within us forms the foundation of his practice and what amounts to his gift to our post-postmodern astrology: astrology as a vehicle for accessing the depth + breadth of our human wholeness.

Through his astrological and Open Human Heart counseling, Adam deepens theory and understanding into cellular reality — only possible when Sky meets Earth in our deep heart.

Adam will facilitate a Living Sky Experience as often our schedule and weather permit. Each Experience is unique and will be culled from the astrological alignments taking place during our trip. Each night as we gather under the celestial canopy we’ll be treated to stories of the constellations, planets, and stars. Adam will also be guiding meditations into personally potent areas of the sky and facilitate group ceremonies to invoke powerful states of heart-mind coherence.

Venus, Food & Cost

Located conveniently in the heart of Paro Valley, but away from the distractions of the main town, it offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

The Food

Meals in Bhutan tend to be basic and consistent but super fresh and organic. Lunch and dinners consist of freshly cooked vegetables, a meat dish and either Bhutanese red rice or white rice.
